EFFECT OF THE MQL TECHNIQUE ON CUTTING FORCE AND SURFACE QUALITY DURING THE SLOT MILLING OF TITANIUM ALLOY

In this study, the effects of four control parameters, i.e., cutting speed (vc), feed per tooth (f), depth cut (ap), and flow rate fluid (Q), on surface roughness (Ra) force (Fc) were investigated in slot milling titanium alloys (Ti-6Al-4V). The parameters determined by a statistical analysis. addition, RSM models for Ra Fc during machining under three cooling/lubrication conditions, dry, flood, minimum quantity lubrication (MQL), obtained. results revealed that both are sensitive to changes f, ap Q. It was found MQL condition generates lower values where value is 0.227 µm. By contrast, close those flood at times even better. performance cutting-fluid 36 mL/h be best certain conditions. an effective alternative technique conventional conditions when Ti-6Al-4V.
